The aquifer
The problem was initially thought to be a leak, but after detailed surveys it was concluded that - rather than escaping from it - water was not getting into the pond. So a collection chamber was dug down into the aquifer that comes from higher up Greenmoor Hill . . . (Note the red clay, familiar from traditional local bricks.)
